Richarlison's Vasco da Gama Move Collapses as Spurs Future Remains Unclear

13 minutes ago·1 min

Richarlison's proposed move to Vasco da Gama has collapsed, leaving the Tottenham Hotspur forward's future deeply uncertain as the Brazilian transfer window neared its Friday night close.

Sources indicated that Tottenham Hotspur had agreed a fee with Vasco da Gama for the 29-year-old's return to Brazil, but negotiations broke down when personal terms could not be resolved between the parties.

With the window now shut, there is a growing sense that Richarlison will remain at Spurs — at least for the time being — though his situation at the club remains far from settled.

Left out and in dispute

Richarlison has already been excluded from Tottenham Hotspur's Premier League squad following the collapse of a separate £35 million deadline-day deal to join Everton, which also fell apart over disagreements on personal terms.

BBC Sport reported on Thursday that Richarlison and Tottenham Hotspur are locked in a dispute over the nine months remaining on his contract. The attacker is understood to be pushing for a release from the remainder of his deal, which expires next summer — though Spurs hold the option to trigger a 12-month extension.

De Zerbi declines to comment

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Roberto de Zerbi offered little clarity on the matter when pressed at a news conference on Friday, distancing himself from the situation entirely.
