Yasser al-Misehal has stepped down as president of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation following the national team's first-round exit at the 2026 World Cup, according to Al Jazeera.
Saudi Arabia finished bottom of Group H with just two points, their campaign undone by a 1-1 draw with Uruguay, a goalless stalemate against tournament debutants Cape Verde, and a heavy 4-0 defeat to title favourites Spain.
In a statement posted on X late Sunday, al-Misehal accepted full responsibility for the outcome.
