Tottenham's search for a first Premier League win of the season has been extended by at least another three weeks, after Aston Villa handed them a convincing 3-1 defeat at home.

The result was all the more damaging for Spurs given that Villa arrived at the fixture without a Premier League victory of their own — yet left north London with all three points in comfortable fashion.

Despite finally getting on the scoresheet, Tottenham could not find a way back into the contest, with Villa proving too strong across the pitch.
