William Osula Set to Stay at Newcastle United Despite Bundesliga Interest

William Osula's future at Newcastle United has been resolved, with the Danish striker expected to remain at St. James' Park heading into the new season — bringing an end to an extended period of uncertainty over his next move.
Osula had been linked with a switch to the Bundesliga for much of last season, with Eintracht Frankfurt emerging as the most serious suitor. A move came close to completing during the January window, but negotiations broke down in the final days, leaving Osula to continue his fight for a starting berth on Tyneside.
A strong finish and a fresh start
That determination to prove his worth paid dividends. Osula finished the campaign with seven goals from eight starts, a return that underlined the threat he poses when given a consistent run of games.
He has carried that form into pre-season under new head coach Matthias Jaissle, who took charge of Newcastle United in the summer. Osula featured prominently throughout the club's preparations, with one performance in particular standing out — a lively showing in a 1-1 friendly draw against Strasbourg, where his pressing and direct running caused persistent problems for the French side.
Suited to Jaissle's system
Jaissle's preferred tactical setup may work in Osula's favour. The German coach has previously deployed two centre-forwards, pairing an athletic, high-pressing runner with a more technical forward who links play between the lines. Osula fits the former role, with Nick Woltemade likely to occupy the latter.
