Nigeria international Zaidu Sanusi is edging closer to a departure from FC Porto this summer, with Saudi Pro League club Al-Qadsiah emerging as the frontrunner to sign the left-back.

Officials from Al-Qadsiah are understood to have held talks with Porto's hierarchy in recent days over a potential deal. The Portuguese champions have signalled their willingness to let Sanusi go and have placed a valuation of €10 million on the defender.

Contract talks stall at Porto

Sanusi enters the final year of his contract at Estádio do Dragão this season. Negotiations over a new two-year deal have reportedly broken down, with disagreements over salary proving the sticking point between the player and the club.

The 29-year-old has been a regular fixture in Porto's backline since arriving from Santa Clara in August 2020. Over the course of his five seasons with the club, he has accumulated eight domestic honours with the Portuguese giants.

A player in demand

This would not be the first time Sanusi has attracted attention from elsewhere. The Super Eagles defender has previously been linked with Serie A side Atalanta and English Championship club Leeds United, though neither of those moves materialised.

Should the transfer to Al-Qadsiah be completed, Sanusi would follow a growing number of European-based players making the switch to the Saudi Pro League in recent years.
