Egypt's ZED FC and Libya's Al-Ahli Tripoli lead the way

ZED FC delivered one of the standout results of the round, dismantling ASAS Djibouti Telecom 4-0 at home. The Egyptian club now carry a massive advantage into the second leg and look well on course for the next stage.

Al-Ahli Tripoli were equally ruthless away from home, defeating KMKM of Zanzibar 3-0 to put one foot in the next round. The Libyan side showed composure and clinical finishing throughout.

Singida Black Stars produce the biggest scoreline

Tanzania's Singida Black Stars delivered the most emphatic display of the preliminary round, routing Al Ghazala Wau 7-1 away in South Sudan. That result stands as the widest margin of victory across all three matchdays.

Uganda's Kitara also earned an impressive 2-1 away victory over Mogadishu City in Somalia, placing them in an excellent position ahead of the return leg — and keeping alive a potential second-round meeting with Al Ahly.

Angola's Primeiro de Agosto won 2-0 away to Green Mamba of Eswatini, while Nigeria's Shooting Stars edged past Tunisia's CS Sfaxien 1-0 in a tight affair. ASKO D'Kara of Togo thrashed AS ZAM of Niger 5-0, and El Kanemi Warriors of Nigeria defeated Odeba of Guinea-Bissau 3-0.

Ghana's Nations FC suffered a 1-0 defeat to FC Diarra in Mali, while Kenya's Tusker drew 2-2 with Al-Ahli Madani in Sudan — a result that keeps the tie finely balanced.

The scheduled match between DC Virunga of DR Congo and BTL Bazar of Seychelles was not played after BTL Bazar declined to travel due to concerns over an Ebola outbreak in the region.

Friday and Saturday results

Earlier in the week, SPSI drew 2-2 with CO Korhogo, Esperance Sportive de Zarzis beat Club Diambars 3-1, and Panther FC drew 1-1 with Rayon Sport. Port Louis FC and Jwaneng Galaxy also shared the spoils at 1-1, while Al-Hilal Al-Sahel defeated Welwalo Adigrat 2-1.

On Saturday, Red Arrows of Zambia won 2-0 over FC Rouge, Kabuscorp beat UNAM 2-0, Black Bulls defeated Atomic Ngomi 1-0, Durban City edged Rukinzo 1-0, and Real Bamako claimed a 2-1 win over Vitesse. AS Douanes and Hafia FC played out a 2-2 draw.
