Akpoguma Completes Free Transfer to Frosinone on Three-Year Deal

2 hours ago·1 min

Kevin Akpoguma has officially joined Serie A side Frosinone on a free transfer, signing a three-year contract that will keep him at the club until June 30, 2028.

The 31-year-old centre-back arrives at the Canarini after parting ways with TSG Hoffenheim, where he spent 13 years — the entirety of his senior professional career to this point. He leaves the Bundesliga with 175 appearances and three goals for Die Kraichgauer to his name.

Akpoguma first arrived at Hoffenheim from Karlsruher SC in 2013, and broadened his experience through loan spells at Fortuna Düsseldorf and Hannover 96 before eventually cementing himself in the first-team picture.

The move to Frosinone marks a significant milestone: it is the first time in his professional career that Akpoguma will play outside Germany.

International ambitions with the Super Eagles

Although born in Germany and a product of its youth system, Akpoguma switched his international allegiance to Nigeria in 2020. He has since accumulated eight caps for the Super Eagles and will be eager to use regular football in Italy to push for a more prominent role in the national team setup.
