Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has described the club as "very happy" following the unexpected return of Mykhailo Mudryk, who is now available for selection with the Premier League season just three weeks away.

Mudryk had been serving a doping ban, but his early comeback has given Alonso a welcome lift in attacking options ahead of what promises to be a demanding campaign for the London side.

The winger's return comes at a timely moment for Chelsea, who will be looking to Alonso to shape a competitive squad from the outset of the new season.
