Arsenal Close to Sealing Bruno Guimaraes Transfer from Newcastle United

Arsenal are on the verge of completing the signing of Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes, with a full agreement between the two clubs now considered little more than a formality, according to BBC Sport.

The Premier League champions are arranging a medical for the Brazil midfielder later this week. Guimaraes is currently at Newcastle's training base in La Manga, Spain, and is waiting for clearance to leave the facility so he can finalise the move to Emirates Stadium.

No official transfer fee has been confirmed, but sources indicate the deal could reach £80 million. The clubs have been working through the finer details of the agreement throughout the week, with a breakthrough in negotiations first reported by BBC Sport on 30 July.

Guimaraes, 28, joined Newcastle from Lyon in 2022 and has since established himself as one of the Premier League's most influential midfielders. He has made no secret of his desire to join Arsenal, and manager Mikel Arteta identified him as his primary target for the central midfield role.

The deal, if completed, would represent a significant coup for Arsenal as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of what promises to be another demanding campaign.
