Czech top-flight club FC Banik Ostrava have publicly celebrated Abdullahi Bewene following his debut appearance for Nigeria's Super Eagles in a 2-2 friendly draw against Poland at the PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw on Wednesday.
A late call-up who delivered
Bewene, 21, was not part of head coach Éric Chelle's original squad for the friendly. He earned a place in the group only after a string of late withdrawals thinned the available pool, and he repaid the faith shown in him by playing the full 90 minutes.
The former Golden Eaglets forward drew widespread admiration from fans and analysts for his display in an entertaining, end-to-end encounter.
