Bruno Guimaraes made his Arsenal debut and Myles Lewis-Skelly found the net amid speculation over his future, but the Gunners were held to a 1-1 draw by Como in their final pre-season friendly at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.

Lewis-Skelly opened the scoring after capitalising on a stray pass from Como goalkeeper Jean Butez, calmly stroking the ball into the net. The goal came against the backdrop of transfer rumours linking him with an Arsenal exit — he celebrated by forming a heart shape with his hands.

Martin Baturina levelled matters before the break, showing sharp footwork before firing past Kepa Arrizabalaga to cancel out Lewis-Skelly's effort and leave the teams level at half-time.

Guimaraes welcomed by Emirates crowd

Guimaraes, who joined Arsenal from Newcastle for £75 million last Saturday, was brought on at half-time and was greeted with a warm reception from the home supporters. The Brazilian midfielder could not, however, inspire a winning goal in the second half as the match finished level.

Manager Mikel Arteta opted to rest Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, and Martin Zubimendi despite the trio returning from World Cup commitments earlier in the week. Eberechi Eze, David Raya, Mikel Merino, and Noni Madueke all made their first pre-season appearances during the game.

Arsenal win penalty shootout ahead of Community Shield

The two sides contested a post-match penalty shootout, which Arsenal won 4-3. New signing Christos Tzolis converted the decisive spot-kick to seal the shootout victory.
