The CAF Executive Committee (EXCO) has unanimously endorsed the joint statement issued by FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Secretary General Mattias Grafström on the FIFA Forward Enterprise (FFE), reaffirming African football's commitment to governance, transparency, and global best practices.

CAF accepts FIFA's apology on FFE process

The FIFA leadership acknowledged in the joint update that errors were made during the proposed establishment of the FFE, and offered an apology to the FIFA Council and member associations who felt excluded from the process. FIFA confirmed the proposal is now off the table and pledged a review whose findings will be presented to the FIFA Council at its next scheduled meeting.

CAF took note of FIFA's acknowledgement that, while mistakes occurred, all actions were carried out in full compliance with the FIFA Regulatory Framework. The confederation welcomed the commitment not to repeat those errors.

Motsepe: governance is non-negotiable

CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe welcomed the joint statement and used the occasion to restate the continent's firm stance on institutional accountability. "For us in Africa, adherence to governance, due process, and transparency is crucial and non-negotiable, as this is the practice and conduct we expect from our governments, business, and other institutions and organisations," Motsepe said.

Motsepe added that CAF would continue to develop players, coaches, and national teams across all 54 member associations, and would push ahead with building and upgrading stadium infrastructure. He also reported positive progress in negotiations with current and prospective sponsors, partners, and investors to keep CAF financially independent.

Support for Infantino and World Cup 2026 praised

The EXCO unanimously reconfirmed its support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino and expressed gratitude for his sustained backing of African football. FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström and the broader FIFA administration were also thanked for delivering a successful FIFA World Cup 2026.

The committee highlighted the high quality of football on display at the ongoing TotalEnergies CAF Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2026 in Morocco, describing the tournament as a major success. CAF also noted that preparations for the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) PAMOJA — to be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda — are progressing well.
