CAF Updates Commercial Rights Tender for AFCON 2028, 2031, and 2033

The Confédération Africaine de Football has amended its Commercial Rights Invitation to Tender for three upcoming editions of the Africa Cup of Nations, following a unanimous Executive Committee decision to restore the tournament to a biennial schedule.
The amendment, issued on 2 November 2026, clarifies that the tender — originally published on 23 July 2026 — covers AFCON 2028, AFCON 2031, and AFCON 2033. Each package includes both the Finals and the Qualifiers for every edition.
What the tender covers
The three editions up for tender are the tournaments that follow the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations PAMOJA 2027. Prospective Commercial Rights Partners are being invited to bid for all three tournaments as a combined package under the Invitation to Tender.
The bid submission deadline is Monday, 16 November 2026 at 17h00 Cairo local time. Entities wishing to participate in the process are asked to contact CAF directly at mediasales@cafonline.com and legalaffairs@cafonline.com.
A competition on the rise
CAF describes AFCON as Africa's biggest sporting event and the fastest-growing global football competition. The 2025 edition, hosted in Morocco, drew over 3.2 billion TV viewers and generated six billion digital views — figures that underline the enormous commercial value at stake in this tender.
The restoration of a two-year cycle — reversed by the CAF Executive Committee on 29 October 2026 — means fans across the continent can expect AFCON to return more frequently, and commercial partners gain a clearer long-term platform to plan around.
