Chelle Eyes Another Super Eagles Win as Nigeria Face Poland in Warsaw Friendly

3 days ago·1 min

Super Eagles head coach Éric Chelle has declared his side fully prepared to beat Poland in Wednesday's international friendly at the Stadion PGE Narodowy in Warsaw — a venue that holds 58,000 supporters.

"Now, we have a team and we are preparing to go out there and win. Winning is the mentality that we are trying to create in the team, in the players. We will go for a win on Wednesday," Chelle told thenff.com.

A rare fixture with familiar history

The fixture is only the second senior meeting between the two nations. The first came on March 23, 2018, when Nigeria claimed a 1-0 victory over Poland in a pre-World Cup friendly at the Stadion Miejski Wroclaw. Victor Moses, then a Chelsea winger, converted from the penalty spot in the second half to settle that contest.

Chasing a sixth straight unbeaten match

Nigeria head into the clash on the back of a five-match unbeaten run. The Super Eagles have not tasted defeat since their Africa Cup of Nations semi-final exit against hosts Morocco at the 2025 edition, a tie they lost on penalties rather than in open play.

Chelle, 48, believes his squad carries the quality to overcome Poland even with the full weight of a passionate home crowd behind them. The match on Wednesday presents an opportunity to extend that unbeaten run to six games and continue building the winning culture the French-Malian coach is determined to instil.
