Derby della Madonnina: AC Milan Face Inter Milan With Seven-Point Gap on the Line

60 minutes ago·2 min

AC Milan and Inter Milan square off in the Derby della Madonnina at San Siro this Saturday evening, with the Rossoneri desperate to prevent the gap at the top of Serie A from stretching beyond seven points.

The stakes for Milan

Milan's position has deteriorated sharply heading into the derby. A 4-2 home defeat to Bologna on Wednesday — in which Samuel Mbangula struck a hat-trick for the Rossoblu — ended their unbeaten run and left them six goals conceded across their last two home league matches. Ruben Amorim's side had come from behind to lead before the collapse, making the result all the more damaging.

Inter, meanwhile, sit clear at the summit after nine Serie A matches, unbeaten alongside Lazio and Roma. Cristian Chivu's side have won all four of their most recent league fixtures and remain undefeated in every home Serie A match this season. They are also the division's most prolific attack, averaging more than 2.5 goals per game in 2026/27.

Derby history favours Milan

Despite Inter's dominance in the table, recent head-to-head form tells a different story. AC Milan have won the last three meetings between these two clubs across all competitions, and Inter have not claimed a derby victory in seven matches — their last Derby della Madonnina win came two and a half years ago.
