Phil Foden has signed a new four-year contract with Manchester City, extending his stay at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2030. The 26-year-old's previous deal had been due to run out in the summer of 2027.
Foden, who made his first-team debut against Feyenoord in the UEFA Champions League on November 21, 2017, has gone on to make 369 appearances for the club, scoring 110 goals along the way.
In 2025/26, the midfielder featured 50 times, contributing 10 goals and seven assists as City navigated another busy campaign.
What Foden said
Speaking through the club's official channels, Foden left no doubt about the depth of his commitment. "Committing my future to City means everything to me," he said. "Playing for this club is all I've ever wanted to do and it's always an honour to wear the shirt."
Foden also expressed his excitement at the prospect of working again with manager Enzo Maresca. "I can't wait to work with Enzo again. He was brilliant during the Treble season — someone all the players respected and loved working with. To have him back here is exciting," he said.
"Personally, I know I've improved so much from working with our coaches and world-class squad and as many of the legends who were here when I first broke through move on, I am excited for the next phase of my career at this great club," Foden added.
The most decorated player in Man City history
Alongside John Stones and Bernardo Silva — both of whom departed the Etihad this summer — Foden stands as one of the most decorated players in Manchester City's history, having lifted 20 major trophies. His haul includes six Premier League titles, one UEFA Champions League, three FA Cups, five League Cups, one UEFA Super Cup, one FIFA Club World Cup, and three Community Shields.
With Stones released and Silva heading to Real Madrid on a free transfer, Foden now carries the torch as the senior academy graduate at the heart of the squad.
Man City's summer transfer activity
Manchester City have been active in the transfer market this summer. On the incoming side, they brought in Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for £116 million, Jeremy Monga from Leicester City for £10 million, and Pierce Charles from Sheffield Wednesday for £3 million, alongside undisclosed additions Mathys Detourbet from Troyes.
Among the departures, Manuel Akanji joined Inter for an undisclosed fee, Nathan Ake moved to Fenerbahce for £8.5 million, and Reigan Heskey left for Cologne for £6 million. Jahmai Simpson-Pusey and Luca Fletcher also departed for undisclosed fees, joining Cologne and Ipswich respectively, while John Stones was released and Bernardo Silva left for Real Madrid on a free.
