Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has ordered the immediate release of two buses — a 32-seater and an 18-seater — to Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, rewarding the club for their commanding first-leg victory in the CAF Confederation Cup.

3SC defeated CS Sfaxien of Tunisia 1-0 at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta on Saturday. Lucky Emmanuel's goal in the 25th minute proved the difference, giving the Oluyole Warriors a slender but vital advantage ahead of the second leg.

The win carries extra significance: it marks 3SC's first participation in African club football in 27 years, making the result all the more celebrated in Ibadan and across Oyo State.

State backing for the continental campaign

Commissioner for Information Prince Dotun Oyelade confirmed the gift in a statement issued on Sunday, describing the buses as a show of the state government's solidarity with the club's continental ambitions.

Oyelade added that Governor Makinde was committed to sustaining the club's momentum and reviving what the statement called the old glory of the "Darling Club of Oyo State."

"The approval underscores the state government's commitment to supporting the Oluyole Warriors as they represent Oyo State on the continental stage," the statement read.

The governor also assured supporters that further backing would be forthcoming as 3SC continue their pursuit of continental honours.

"Makinde has assured the club's supporters and fans that the state government will continue to provide the necessary support to enable Shooting Stars to remain in contention for continental honours," the statement added.
