Manchester United Draw at Everton but Questions Linger as Pressure Builds

1 hour ago·1 min

Manchester United came away from the Hill Dickinson Stadium with a 2-2 draw against Everton — a result that felt more like a defeat to manager Michael Carrick than a point salvaged.

The visitors controlled large portions of the match and led on two separate occasions, only to be pegged back by a pair of long-range strikes. The first was a ferocious effort from Tyrique George; the second a blistering last-gasp equaliser from substitute Ainsley Maitland-Niles on his Premier League debut — the first time an Everton player had scored from outside the penalty area on their debut in the competition.

Carrick sees encouragement — and concern

United have now dropped five points from their opening three Premier League fixtures, conceding twice in every game. Their opponents have included two newly promoted sides and an Everton squad whose supporters are frustrated after a difficult deadline day.

Carrick was measured in his assessment.
