Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund has shut down speculation over a possible move for Michael Olise, stating clearly that the French winger will remain at the club and is not available for transfer.

Speaking to Bayern Munich's official website, Freund was direct when asked about reported interest from Real Madrid. "Olise-Real Madrid? That's not a topic for us at all. He will play an important role for FC Bayern this season again," he said.

Freund pointed to Olise's contract as the clearest signal of the club's intentions. The winger is tied to Bayern Munich until 2029 and his deal contains no release clause, effectively making any summer departure a non-starter.

A defining season for Olise

Olise arrives at pre-season preparations having just delivered one of the standout individual campaigns in world football. Across 107 competitive appearances for Bayern Munich, he has contributed 42 goals and 54 assists — numbers that reflect his status as one of the most complete attackers in Europe.

His influence stretched beyond club football at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he registered seven assists for France — breaking the all-time record for assists at a single tournament. That mark had stood since 1970, when Pelé set it with six assists, and France ultimately finished fourth in the competition.

At Bundesliga level, Olise topped the assists chart for the 2025/26 season with 19, helping Bayern Munich successfully defend their league title. The club also lifted the DFB Cup for the first time since 2020, making it a double-trophy campaign for the record champions.

New season on the horizon

After an extended break following his World Cup exertions, the former Reading and Crystal Palace winger will rejoin his teammates as Bayern Munich continue their pre-season build-up. The 2026/27 campaign gets under way on 22 August, when Bayern Munich face Borussia Dortmund in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup.
