Inter Milan Close in on £30m Deal for Liverpool Midfielder Curtis Jones

Inter Milan are on the verge of securing Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones for a fee in the region of £30m, with sources suggesting a verbal agreement between the two clubs may already be in place.

Liverpool had turned down an approach from the Italian champions back in June, when Inter's verbal offer of 25m euros (£21.7m) fell well short of the Merseyside club's £35m valuation of the 24-year-old — who turns 25 this year and has one year remaining on his contract.

Clubs edging towards an agreement

The two sides now appear to be converging on a figure of around £30m — a benchmark set by the fee Inter paid Tottenham Hotspur for Djed Spence earlier this summer. Liverpool have indicated they are open to selling Jones at that level, and Italian sources believe an informal agreement is already in place, though both clubs acknowledge that further details require discussion before any deal is formalised.

Inter had also expressed interest in January, proposing a loan arrangement with an option to buy, but Liverpool declined that approach at the time.

A Anfield academy product ready to move on

Jones has been a product of Liverpool's academy since the age of nine and has made 228 appearances for the club since his debut under then-manager Jurgen Klopp in 2019. Last season he featured 49 times across all competitions, yet managed only 18 Premier League starts — a tally that highlighted his difficulty in nailing down a regular place in midfield under head coach Arne Slot.

The England international is understood to be eager for a fresh challenge and, if the transfer is completed, he would become the third English player to join Inter this summer — following John Stones and Djed Spence.

Should the deal go through, the move would represent a significant moment for the Serie A side, who are assembling an increasingly English-flavoured squad ahead of the new season.
