Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola has described the preseason injury sustained by defender Joe Gomez as "the worst news," after the club's 4-2 victory over Sunderland on Saturday.

Gomez went down during the friendly fixture, casting a shadow over what was otherwise an encouraging result for the Merseyside club as they build towards the new campaign.
