2 hours ago·1 min

Coventry City manager Frank Lampard has spoken glowingly about Caleb Yirenkyi, the 20-year-old Ghanaian midfielder who arrived this summer as the club's record signing, expressing confidence that the youngster will forge a standout career at the club.

Lampard's enthusiasm was sparked by Yirenkyi's eye-catching display in a 2-0 pre-season friendly win over Monaco on Friday, during which the midfielder contributed an assist.

A club-record arrival from Nordsjælland

Yirenkyi made the move to Coventry City from FC Nordsjælland in a deal reported at €27 million plus potential add-ons, making him the most expensive signing in the club's history.

Speaking on the club's official website, Lampard revealed that several European clubs had been chasing Yirenkyi before Coventry persuaded him to commit to their project.
