Liverpool booked their place in the Carabao Cup fourth round with a commanding 3-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur, with goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo — two players whose futures at the club had been the subject of speculation this summer — doing much of the damage.

Both Mac Allister and Gakpo had seen their names linked with potential exits during the transfer window, yet both delivered when it mattered, helping Liverpool put the tie to bed with a convincing display.
