Scott and Antony Sent Off in Fiery Pre-Season Draw Between Bournemouth and Real Betis

2 hours ago·1 min

A pre-season friendly in Seville turned volatile when Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott and Real Betis winger Antony were both dismissed following a mass brawl, as the match finished 2-2.

The incident erupted just before half-time after Betis midfielder Nelson Deossa kicked the ball at Bournemouth defender Bafode Diakite in retaliation for a foul. The provocation ignited a confrontation between players from both sides, with Scott and Antony pushing each other before the referee brandished red cards for both.

A match of two halves

Despite the controversy, the game itself delivered plenty of action. Marcus Tavernier opened the scoring for Bournemouth in the 41st minute, only for Cucho Hernandez to pull Betis level in the 57th minute.

Evanilson restored the Cherries' advantage, but Pablo Fornals — formerly of West Ham — cancelled it out late on to ensure the sides shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw.

What's next for Bournemouth

Andoni Iraola's side have one more pre-season fixture remaining: a clash with German outfit Mainz on 15 August (14:30 BST). They then begin their Premier League campaign against Manchester City on 23 August.
