Nigerian Premier Football League side Shooting Stars have terminated the contracts of head coach Nurudeen Aweroro, team manager Tammy Tamuno, and assistant coach Shakiru Lawal, the club confirmed in an official statement.

The Ibadan club announced that all three departures were agreed upon by both parties, with contracts brought to an end immediately. "We have reached a mutual agreement with Head Coach Nurudeen Aweroro, Team Manager Tammy Tamuno and Assistant Coach Shakiru Lawal to bring their respective contracts with the Club to an end, with immediate effect," read the club's statement.

The statement added that the decision came after discussions between the club and the outgoing staff members, with both sides choosing to part ways amicably.

Aweroro's tenure at the Oluyole Warriors

Aweroro was appointed head coach of Shooting Stars ahead of the 2025/26 NPFL season. He guided the Oluyole Warriors to a third-place finish in the league — a result that also earned the club a continental ticket.

Despite that achievement, the club elected to move in a different direction after the campaign's conclusion.

In its statement, Shooting Stars praised all three departing members of the technical team: "The Club particularly acknowledges their efforts in helping Shooting Stars achieve a third-place finish in the 2025/26 NPFL season and secure a continental ticket. We thank them immensely for their service and wish them all the very best in their future endeavours and continued success in their careers."

Interim arrangement in place

While the search for a new head coach begins, the remaining assistant coaches have been tasked with overseeing the technical department. The club stated it would provide updates on the appointment of a substantive head coach in due course.
