South Africa's journey to the FIFA World Cup has hit an early obstacle, with the squad's departure from OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg delayed due to visa complications, the South African Football Association (SAFA) confirmed.

The team had been scheduled to fly to Mexico in time to land on Sunday morning ahead of their opening match, but that flight did not depart as planned. SAFA confirmed the squad has been rebooked onto a Monday morning departure.
