Trabzonspor Close to Sealing Loan Deal for Arokodare From Wolves

2 hours ago·1 min

Tolu Arokodare is on the brink of joining Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers, with both sides deep in final-stage negotiations, according to Turkish outlet Takagazete.

The key sticking point has been wages: Wolves are demanding that Trabzonspor cover the Nigerian striker's full annual salary of €3.7 million before any deal is confirmed. The 25-year-old is expected to travel to Turkey on Monday to complete the formalities, provided the remaining details are resolved in time.

Why Trabzonspor need a striker

The Black Sea club's push for a new centre-forward intensified after Felipe Augusto departed for Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg. Trabzonspor are also facing doubts over Paul Onuachu's future — the fellow Nigeria international has attracted strong interest from Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli after finishing as the Turkish Super Lig's joint-top scorer last season.

Arokodare's debut season at Wolves

Arokodare arrived at Wolves last summer from Belgian Pro League club KRC Genk, going on to make 33 league appearances for the Old Gold. He scored three goals and contributed one assist across those outings — a modest return that has left his long-term future at the club uncertain.

Should the move to Trabzonspor be finalised, Arokodare would get the opportunity to lead the line in a league where two of his compatriots — Onuachu and the departing Augusto — have made a significant mark in recent seasons.
