Former Ajax midfielder Marciano Vink has admitted he did not anticipate Tolu Arokodare making such an immediate impression at Ajax following the Super Eagles striker's move from Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer.

Arokodare has wasted no time settling into life in Amsterdam, registering five goals in eight appearances across all competitions — a return that has turned heads at the club.

"I didn't expect him to make such an immediate impact," Vink said. "He can really play football well for such a strong, big player. Only the heading could be a bit better, but that move reveals a lot."

Vink also highlighted a particular moment in which Arokodare controlled the ball on his chest before striking wide with his left foot — a chance that came agonisingly close to finding the net.

"He took it a bit too much on the outside of his foot this time, causing it to go wide. But that is really impressive, in tight space for such a big and strong guy. It's a good thing the ball didn't go straight into the top corner, because then it would be the goal of the year. That whole move reveals so much footballing class."
