Chiesa acknowledged that a new manager in Andoni Iraola — appointed in June following Slot's dismissal — represents an opportunity to reset. "This year, let us say it is a new chapter," he said. "There is a new manager and I have to focus on that."
Reflecting on the Slot era
While measured in his assessment of Slot's time in charge, Chiesa was candid about his desire for greater involvement. "Last year, I felt ready for a bigger role," he said. "Then it depended on the coach whether he wanted me to play or not. Of course I wanted to play more, but it is what it is."
He added that Slot's tactical decisions were simply part of the game. "The gaffer decided to do so, he had his gameplans, he took his decisions — I have nothing to say about that. It is football."
With pre-season underway and Iraola settling into his new role at Anfield, Chiesa appears determined to seize his moment and finally establish himself as a regular starter in the Premier League.
