Arsenal Close to Landing Club Brugge Winger Tzolis in €40m Deal

Arsenal are on the verge of completing a move for Club Brugge attacker Christos Tzolis, with the two clubs having reached a verbal agreement worth €40 million (£33.9m).
A formal bid has yet to be submitted, but sources indicate this is a formality. Personal terms are not expected to pose any obstacle, and once Arsenal table their offer, Tzolis will undergo a medical before putting pen to paper on a long-term contract at the Emirates.
How the deal came together
BBC Sport reported on Tuesday that Arsenal had stepped up their pursuit of Tzolis following the exit of Leandro Trossard, who departed for Besiktas. Sporting director Andrea Berta has led negotiations on the deal after his assistant Maurizio Micheli scouted the 24-year-old Greece international during his country's match against Sweden last month.
Tzolis represents a separate addition to Arsenal's ongoing search for a high-profile forward this summer. The club continue to hold a long-standing interest in Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez — their primary target — though Barcelona and Real Madrid are also pursuing the Argentina international.
Rogers and Barcola also in the picture
Morgan Rogers remains Arsenal's top choice as a versatile attacking option. The club's efforts to secure the Aston Villa forward are expected to intensify once his involvement with England at the World Cup concludes. Aston Villa are said to value Rogers at £130m.
Should a deal for Rogers prove unworkable, Arsenal have identified Paris St-Germain winger Bradley Barcola as their fallback option.
