John Otomewo Signs for Stade de Reims on Long-Term Deal
Nigerian defensive midfielder John Otomewo has completed a move to French Ligue 2 side Stade de Reims, signing a contract that runs until 2031.
The 19-year-old arrives from Israeli club Hapoel Jerusalem, where he had established himself as a consistent starter, featuring in over 90 percent of the team's matches since his arrival.
A rapid rise through the ranks
Otomewo began his professional journey with Abia Comets FC in the Nigerian Second Division before earning a transfer to NPFL club Gombe United in 2025. His performances at Gombe United caught the eye of Hapoel Jerusalem, who brought him to Israel — and he wasted no time making his mark.
Now, Reims have moved to secure his signature on a deal that ties him to the club for six years, underlining the faith the French outfit have in his long-term potential.
Otomewo eager to make an impact
The youngster was full of excitement after putting pen to paper. "I am very happy to be at Stade de Reims," Otomewo told the club's official website. "This will allow me to evolve and progress in the best conditions, but above all I want to help the Club achieve its objectives this season."
Reims have noted that fellow Nigerian Hafiz Ibrahim is already at the club, a familiar presence expected to help Otomewo settle into his new surroundings with ease.
