Rivers United technical adviser Finidi George has declared confidence in his side ahead of the return leg after the Port Harcourt club drew 1-1 with Ivorian outfit San Pedro in the first leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary round tie at the Laurent Pokou Stadium on Sunday.

Issouf Dosso handed San Pedro the advantage four minutes before the interval, heading home from a swift counter-attack to silence the visiting side. Rivers United struck back after the break, with substitute Iyowuna Douglas levelling matters in the 69th minute to secure a valuable away draw.

Finidi was measured but positive in his assessment after the final whistle, noting that avoiding defeat on the road had been a primary target before kick-off.
