AS Monaco chief executive Thiago Scuro has raised serious questions about Paul Pogba's continued presence at the club, suggesting the 33-year-old midfielder may not survive beyond the summer transfer window.

In an interview with Get French Football News, Scuro made clear that a parting of ways remains firmly on the table should the club and player find themselves pulling in different directions.

"It is a complicated topic because we have a lot of respect for Paul, for the person he is. Since he arrived, he has been very positive. It is also true that, last year, the project didn't work well because when we started with him in the summer, the expectations were very different to what happened."

Scuro added that Monaco would monitor Pogba's physical and technical progress on a weekly basis before any final decision is reached — and that the call ultimately rests with the manager.

A difficult comeback at the Principality

When Pogba put pen to paper for Monaco, hope was high that he could revive a career disrupted by injury and a doping ban. That optimism has since been tempered by the harsh reality: his body has struggled to cope with the physical demands of elite football.

Monaco's desire to trim their wage bill adds another layer of pressure on a situation already fraught with uncertainty. The club's financial priorities and Pogba's fitness concerns are converging at the worst possible moment for the former Juventus and Manchester United midfielder.
