Rio Ferdinand has declared Christos Tzolis Arsenal's finest piece of transfer business this summer — and, in his view, the best signing made by any club across the entire window.

The former Manchester United defender made his feelings clear on his YouTube channel, singling out the £34 million winger as exceptional value in what he described as an impressive overhaul at the Emirates.

Ferdinand's verdict on Tzolis

"Who is the best signing of the transfer window? From what I've seen so far, I'm going to go for Tzolis," Ferdinand said. "For the price you got him for, £35m, from what I've seen, jinky little winger, great vision, making good decisions in the final third."

Ferdinand added that the 24-year-old Greek winger already looks sharp and bright after an eye-catching league debut against Coventry City — a performance that convinced him Tzolis will represent extraordinary value relative to his fee.

"I'm going to go early, I'm going to say he's going to be my signing of the season, in terms of value, and in terms of what he does," Ferdinand continued. "A snip in today's market."

Tzolis arrived from Club Brugge to fill the void left by the departures of Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli on the left flank, and he has already equalled David Beckham's Community Shield feat in Arsenal's victory over Manchester City.

A summer of big spending at the Emirates

Arsenal's summer activity extended well beyond the Tzolis deal. Having claimed their first Premier League title in 22 years, the Gunners invested close to £200 million across five signings.

Piero Hincapie's loan from Bayer Leverkusen was made permanent, while Ezri Konsa joined from Aston Villa to bolster an already formidable defensive unit. Illan Meslier arrived from Leeds United as third-choice goalkeeper.

The marquee addition, however, was Bruno Guimaraes — the Newcastle United midfielder who cost £75 million and drew strong praise from Ferdinand.

"Bruno Guimaraes is a fantastic midfielder — a great signing for them in terms of the mix they needed, the type of player they needed. Bruno is a perfect signing for them," Ferdinand said.

Ferdinand was equally complimentary about Konsa, calling him a "top centre-half, reliable, will play many games and will never let you down."

manager Mikel Arteta's side did fall short in their reported pursuit of Vinicius Junior, but Ferdinand believes the rest of the window's business leaves Arsenal stronger, more physical, and better equipped to defend their Premier League crown.
