Rivers United captain Stephen Manyo has declared that his side will treat their upcoming CAF Champions League preliminary round first-leg trip to San Pedro of Côte d'Ivoire as though it were a cup final, promising Nigerians that the Pride of Rivers are travelling to compete.
The Rivers United squad departed Nigeria on Wednesday evening, bound for Côte d'Ivoire ahead of the tie scheduled for Saturday, 5 September 2026.
A final mentality on the road
Manyo was emphatic about the significance of the fixture, insisting that a strong away result would ease the burden on the return leg at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
